China Five Rings Engineering has filed a patent application for a flexible-load ammonia synthesis system and process, which enables the ammonia synthesis tower to operate flexibly at high loads with high energy efficiency. According to information from the Intellectual Property Office, China Five Rings Engineering Co., Ltd. submitted a patent application titled “Flexible-Load Ammonia Synthesis System and Process”, with the publication number CN120483186A; the application was filed in May 2025. The patent abstract indicates that this invention discloses a flexible-load ammonia synthesis system and process, which addresses the various problems associated with the use of large operational flexibility strategies in existing ammonia synthesis systems to achieve flexible operation. The system of the present invention includes a syngas compressor connected to the ammonia synthesis unit, as well as a spherical tank gas storage unit and an organic gas storage unit connected to the inlet pipeline of the syngas compressor. The spherical tank gas storage unit comprises a hydrogen spherical tank and a spherical tank hydrogen booster connected in sequence ; The organic hydrogen storage unit includes a hydrogenation sub-unit, a liquid storage unit, and a dehydrogenation sub-unit connected in sequence ; The hydrogen feedstock in the method of the present invention is produced by water electrolysis, and the load of the consumption unit is adjusted in real time according to the flow rate Q of the hydrogen feedstock. The present invention features a simple system that enables the ammonia synthesis tower to operate flexibly under high loads with high energy efficiency.
