At 20:28 on the evening of November 7th, thanks to the joint efforts of the sixth factory of Jiujiang Company and the project team, the purging of the 4.0MPa steam pipeline network, which had begun on October 20th, was successfully completed after 19 days. The 4.0MPa steam pipeline network plays a crucial role in supplying steam to the five centrifugal compressors and the waste heat generator sets. Its main characteristics are numerous pipe branches and long pipelines; it represents the most complex steam purging system in the Jiujiang project. The duration of steam purging in this system directly determines the timing of the project’s commissioning. To ensure construction quality, the project team and the Sixth Factory carried out thorough planning and coordinated their efforts, while implementing strict process control. Before the purging process began, dedicated personnel were assigned to oversee the construction quality on site as well as the chemical cleaning processes. The purging plan was reviewed and optimized multiple times; the main pipelines were purged first, followed by the branch pipelines, to ensure that the optimal approach was adopted. The purging of the 4.0MPa steam pipeline network took place concurrently with the commissioning of the turbines in Hangyang Air Separation’s Units 1 and 2. By arranging the steam distribution appropriately, it was possible to carry out both tasks simultaneously while still meeting the requirements for turbine commissioning, which significantly reduced the construction costs for this large-scale project. After the 4.0MPa steam pipeline network has been successfully purged, the major project enters the phase of addressing system defects, in order to prepare for the oxygen production by the air separation system and further purging of the system.
