From December 21 to 25, 2020, the Hazop review and preliminary design review for the gasification unit of Hubei Xinyangfeng Fertilizer Industry’s project with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia were carried out successfully by China Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd. After five days of in-depth discussions and exchanges, the owner, patent holder, and design institute reached an agreement on design optimizations and other matters. The gasification unit of this project employs a multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology. The volume of crude syngas produced by the gasification unit in the first phase is 106,000 Nm3 (CO+H2)/h. There is one active multi-nozzle gasifier and one standby one, with an operating flexibility of 50–110%. The combined capacity for phases 1 and 2 is tentatively set at 144,000 Nm3/h of usable gas, with the furnace type to be added in phase 2 intended to be the same as that used in phase 1. This project adopts a 6.5 MPa water-coal slurry gasification process, and the syngas produced is used to manufacture 1,200 t/d of synthetic ammonia. The main process production units include: air separation, coal gasification, carbon monoxide conversion, acid gas removal, gas purification, syngas compression, ammonia synthesis, refrigeration, sulfur recovery, flaring, and other such production facilities ； Power stations, water supply and drainage systems, wastewater treatment, power supply, analysis and testing, maintenance, as well as other utility and auxiliary facilities that support the process equipment. That is, a complete set of ammonia synthesis plants using coal as raw material, with a nominal production capacity of 1200 t/d, along with the associated utility support facilities.
