On March 6, the project to upgrade Jiangsu Yixing Linggu Chemical Group Co., Ltd.’s production capacity for synthetic ammonia to 550,000 tons per year and for urea aqueous solutions to 1.3 million tons per year, which was carried out by the Nantong branch of China National Third Construction Engineering Company, saw the successful lifting of the largest components of the air separation unit. The lift involved the medium-pressure tower, a large-scale equipment unit located inside the cryogenic tank of the air separation plant. With a height of 30.2 meters and a lifting weight of 105 tons, it is the heaviest and most complex equipment in terms of operating conditions within the cryogenic tank. A 550-ton crawler crane was used for the main lifting operation, while a 200-ton crawler crane was used to assist with the lift. At noon on the 6th, with a whistle from the chief commander, the medium-voltage tower was officially lifted. Through repeated confirmations by the project department and Company 9 for installation work, all employees involved overcame various difficulties such as limited space and rainy weather, ensuring that the medium-voltage tower was lifted into place successfully on the first attempt. This laid a solid foundation for the smooth progress of subsequent construction tasks. Project Overview: The technical upgrade project, with an annual production capacity of 550,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.3 million tons of urea aqueous solution, requires a total investment of 850 million yuan, funded by Linggu Chemical Group Co., Ltd. The project makes use of the existing factory building to add a new facility with an annual production capacity of 550,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.3 million tons of urea aqueous solution. Once the project is fully operational, it will generate annual taxable sales of 1 billion yuan, tax revenues of 100 million yuan, and a yearly reduction in coal consumption of 130,000 tons. The main production area of Linggu Chemical Co., Ltd. is located in the Yixing Chemical Industrial Park. Originally known as Yixing Fertilizer Factory, it has undergone numerous upgrades and expansions over the years, resulting in two phases of synthetic ammonia and urea production facilities. Phase 1 has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea; Phase 2 has an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 650,000 tons of urea. In total, the annual production capacity is 750,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 1,170,000 tons of urea. To meet production requirements, Linggu Chemical Co., Ltd. invested in a project to adjust the power structure for ammonia synthesis in 2009, adding a new coal-fired boiler with a capacity of 260 hours of operation per day. This boiler is intended solely to support the company’s operations related to the production of 300,000 tons of ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea per year; it is not used for supplying steam or generating electricity to external parties. In addition, Linggu Chemical Co., Ltd. jointly established Yixing Linggu Thermal Power Co., Ltd. with Asia United Chemical Holdings Co., Ltd., Yixing Henglian Investment Co., Ltd., and WNJ Investment & Trade Holdings Co., Ltd. The Linggu Thermal Power Plant area is located within the Linggu chemical industry site; it is relatively independent from the production area of Linggu Chemical and provides thermal power services to that facility. All the above projects have completed the environmental protection procedures required for construction and have been operating normally prior to passing the environmental protection inspections.
