Review of the Preliminary Design for Yingcheng Hongyi Chemical Technology’s IGCC Distributed Energy Carbon Neutrality Application Demonstration and Green Transformation and Upgrading Project of Ammonia Synthesis / Author/Source: Gasification World / Date: 2021-08-02 / Views: 18. Recently, a review meeting for the preliminary design of Yingcheng Hongyi Chemical Technology Co., Ltd.’s IGCC distributed energy carbon neutrality application demonstration and green transformation and upgrading project of ammonia synthesis was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The review panel consisted of experts from design institutes, industry specialists, and technical personnel from the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute. Yingcheng Hongyi Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. was responsible for the upgrading, renovation, construction, and operation of this project. The company currently has synthetic ammonia production capacity of 400,000 tons per year; after more than a decade of operation, there are numerous issues with the system processes and equipment configuration. The overall energy consumption for producing the product, as well as the operating costs, are significantly higher than those of industry leaders. To enhance the competitiveness of its products, the company plans to carry out upgrades in the gasification combined cycle power generation (IGCC) and ammonia synthesis industries. It will retire some of the existing production equipment for ammonia synthesis, and add power generation equipment such as gas turbines to the existing Shell gasification units. By utilizing advanced process technologies such as fluidized bed coal slurry gasification, sulfur-resistant isothermal shift reaction, low-temperature methanol washing, liquid nitrogen washing for gas purification, and low-pressure ammonia synthesis, the company will build a new ammonia synthesis production line with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, thereby minimizing the costs associated with external power supply and steam. Adhering to the principles of \"green innovation, energy conservation and consumption reduction, priority given to efficiency, and reduced investment,\" the expert group conducted a thorough and meticulous review of the preliminary design documents, and held extensive discussions with the technical staff from the design firms China Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd. and Hongyi Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. The review panel believes that the content and depth of the preliminary design documents generally meet the requirements specified in the \"Regulations on the Depth of Content for Preliminary Design Documents of Chemical Plants\" (HG/T 20688-2000). Regarding the aspects of the preliminary design that require improvement and optimization, the expert review panel provided specific suggestions for revisions. The project passed the preliminary design review, further optimizing and refining the preliminary design, thereby achieving the goal of advancing the project construction. After the project is implemented, the ammonia synthesis plant will achieve the goals of cost reduction, energy savings, and carbon reduction, enhancing the company’s competitiveness, and transforming into a modern coal chemical facility that is intrinsically safe, environmentally friendly, and low-carbon.
