Zhonghe Gasification: Jiangsu Heyou’s fixed-bed clean coal gas production plant underwent environmental protection and energy-saving upgrades, and it is now in operation. Jiangsu Heyou Chemical Co., Ltd. is located in the Economic Development Zone of Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, and has an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons of synthetic ammonia. Previously, its gas production unit used multiple batch-type fixed-bed gasifiers to produce raw gas, and the coal gas was cooled by direct water washing, which led to serious pollution of the washing water system as well as a large volume of work required for dealing with coal sludge. Through technologies such as dry dust removal, intercooling, and waste heat recovery, this renovation eliminates the outdated method of cooling gas by direct water washing. It not only addresses the environmental issues associated with pollutants like tar, phenol, and water generated by conventional gas cooling and purification systems, thereby improving pollution control, but also recovers the sensible heat contained in the gas as a result of this renovation, reducing coal consumption and thus supporting **carbon emission reduction policies. Since its commencement in July this year, the project’s construction took a total of three months. During the construction period, the COVID-19 pandemic hit Jiangsu province, and the construction subcontractors came from Yangzhou, an area where the outbreak was severe. Additionally, confirmed cases were found at the project site, which caused difficulties in mobilizing construction workers and supplies. In addition, the continuous rainfall at the project site also affected the effective working hours of construction to some extent. Under immense pressure, the project team worked closely with the client in a scientific and coordinated manner to jointly plan and define the overall project objectives and implementation approach ; Work closely with subcontractors by holding daily meetings to resolve issues on the same day they arise, thereby advancing all tasks efficiently and in an orderly manner to ensure the project progresses as scheduled. At present, the project is operating stably. The dust in the raw gas is directly separated using a dry dust collector; the temperature and dust content of the gas after dust removal and cooling are both better than the design values. The plant achieves \"zero discharge\" of high-concentration wastewater, waste gas, and waste residues, thereby improving the overall environmental conditions and resolving the challenges related to meeting environmental standards. As a platform for the industrialization of scientific research achievements, Zhonghe Gasification always ensures that scientific innovation is aligned with the needs of industrial development, and it carries out technological innovations and practical applications by addressing the actual challenges encountered in production. Through the intercooling retrofit, Zhonghe Gasification enabled the owner to extend the service life of the existing equipment, giving \"new life\" to the fixed-bed batch gasification technology and providing strong support for the owner to achieve favorable economic, social, and environmental benefits.
