Yunnan Tianan Chemical uses a fixed-bed process with alternating acid and base, and in December 2022 it built a hydrogen peroxide production facility with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons (equivalent to 27.5%). It is currently operating stably, with all process parameters within normal range. In accordance with the requirements of the **\"List of Outdated Safety Production Processes, Technologies, and Equipment for Hazardous Chemicals (Second Batch)\) issued in 2024, the fixed-bed hydrogen peroxide production process that involves alternating use of acids and bases is considered an outdated process and requires transformation. Yunnan Tianan Chemical plans to carry out upgrades using a fully acidic fixed-bed hydrogen peroxide process, without increasing production capacity. The modifications involve eliminating the alkali washing step and related processes in the main circulation process of the working fluid, thereby enabling the working fluid to operate in a completely acidic environment. To ensure that the main system has sufficient regeneration capacity, the hydrogenation clay bed and the post-treatment clay bed were replaced with dump-type high-temperature clay beds. At the same time, in order to deal with the anthraquinone degradation products generated by the system, an independent alkaline solution regeneration system is installed separate from the main working fluid circulation system. A small amount of working fluid is taken from the main circulation for regeneration; once it meets the required standards, it is returned to the main circulation, thereby achieving physical separation between the alkaline solution regeneration system and the working fluid circulation system. The hydrogen source is the purified gas from the low-temperature methanol washing process of Tianan Chemical’s existing ammonia synthesis plant, which is used as the raw material for hydrogen production. The project is scheduled to start in August 2026 and be completed in July 2027. The construction period is 12 months. In March 2026, Yuntianhua published on its official website information regarding the safety and compliance upgrades to the hydrogen peroxide production facility in the first phase of Yunnan Tianan Chemical Co., Ltd. According to the environmental impact assessment information made public, Yunnan Tianan Chemical has existing production facilities capable of manufacturing 1.82 million tons per year of high-concentration phosphorus fertilizers (of which 1.2 million tons are diammonium phosphate, 1.2 million tons are ammonium phosphate, and 400,000 tons is heavy calcium carbonate). It can also produce 675,000 tons of wet-process phosphoric acid, 2.2 million tons of sulfuric acid, 500,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 200,000 tons of refined wet-process phosphoric acid, 100,000 tons of aqueous ammonium phosphate, 100,000 tons of iron phosphate produced via the ammonium method, and 200,000 tons of hydrogen peroxide. It is one of the largest production bases in China for high-concentration phosphorus fertilizers and phosphorus-based chemicals.
