What is the purpose of designing a small bypass line at the pump outlet check valve? Why are some designs placed before and after the check valve, while others are placed before the check valve and after the pump outlet valve?
Allowing a small amount of liquid to flow back by passing over the check valve is commonly used for the preheating of high-temperature heavy oil pumps.
It is what is known as a warm pump line. For liquids with temperatures above 200 degrees, a warm pump line must be installed at the pump outlet to ensure the pump operates properly. The backup pump uses this warm pump line to allow hot fluid to flow slowly from the pump outlet to the pump inlet, without causing the backup pump to reverse direction
