What impurities are prohibited from entering a hydrogen purification unit (such as pressure swing adsorption, temperature swing adsorption, or other processes)? Can trace amounts of formic acid be carried in the gas phase?
The presence of oil and free water is prohibited; a trace amount of formic acid should be acceptable. When methanol is converted into hydrogen, the resulting gas contains a trace amount of methanol (in the form of gaseous volatiles) as it enters the PSA unit.
