I need help. I’ve just arrived at an acetylene production workshop, where insulation has not yet been installed. The weather has turned cold, and to prevent freezing, it’s urgent to insulate the water system. I have no prior experience in acetylene production; could you please advise me on whether the following solutions are feasible: centrifugal glass wool + galvanized iron wire + aluminum foil reinforced plastic. I don’t have much knowledge regarding the physical and chemical properties of acetylene; I only know that it reacts with metals such as copper, silver, and mercury. There aren’t many issues with choosing insulation materials. For the wiring, I plan to use galvanized iron wire, and for the outer protective layer, I consider using galvanized iron sheeting or stainless steel wire along with a stainless steel outer coating. The people in the factory who are responsible for production also don’t know much about this, so I’d like to ask for advice from experts here – are there any successful experiences in terms of insulation that I could learn from?
