On March 20, 2020, the waste heat recovery project for the rising pipes of No. 3 and No. 4 coke ovens at Shandong Rongxin Group Co., Ltd., undertaken by Ningbo Zhongke Yuandong Catalytic Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., successfully passed the performance assessment. The installation operates stably, with all indicators exceeding the design specifications and reaching a level that is ahead of industry standards. This project is a comprehensive one that includes the recovery of waste heat from coke oven rising pipes, as well as the construction of related facilities, provision of training, and offering of services. Construction began on April 1, 2019, and the project was completed and accepted on October 9, 2019. To date, the system has been operating stably for 6 months, with a gas production rate of 128.5 kg/t per ton of coke, which is significantly higher than the industry average. Rongxin No. 3 and No. 4 coke ovens produce 1.2 million tons of coke per year; each ton of coke generates 0.128 tons of steam, and at a value of 150 yuan per ton of steam, this results in annual earnings of 23 million yuan. Zhongke Yuandong’s waste gas waste heat recovery technology does not alter the existing process; it simply replaces the existing refractory brick linings in the risers. It has outstanding advantages in terms of preventing coking and carbon deposition in the rising tube, as well as in terms of high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and leak prevention. New high-temperature and wear-resistant materials are used to ensure the device can operate properly under conditions of high temperature, temperature fluctuations, and corrosion, with a service life of 8-10 years ; The use of a forced circulation pump ensures a relatively uniform inflow of water to each rising tube waste heat recovery unit ; The weld-free inner wall of the cylinder ensures that the rising pipe does not leak ; It uses high-temperature resistant imported nanoscopic thermal conductive materials, which are less prone to coking and tar accumulation, making cleaning easier ; High steam generation capacity: more than 110 kilograms of steam per ton of coke (at 0.6 Mpa); energy consumption per ton of coke during processing is reduced by more than 10 kilograms of standard coal ; The surface temperature of the rising pipe was reduced from 230–280°C to around 60–80°C, which decreased thermal radiation, **lowered the temperature in the space above the coke oven, and improved the operating conditions there.
