Our company uses stainless steel for steam systems, and carbon steel for circulating water; carbon steel is also used in applications where corrosion is a concern. However, I feel that merely looking at the equipment specifications of the company isn’t sufficient for a comprehensive assessment. I would appreciate the guidance from those with more experience to help this novice!
It is recommended to specify the medium and application, as these are all related to the selection of pipe materials.
Carbon steel is sufficient for steam; there’s no need to use a more advanced material. Carbon steel is also fine for circulating water. For corrosive fluids, it’s necessary to consider the type of medium involved, as it’s difficult to make judgments without knowing the medium.
