Why should buried tanks be kept away from permafrost layers?

Buried channels should help save on insulation costs; however, in permafrost areas, they are prone to freezing. I’m not sure if that’s correct.
Buried pipes? Beneath the permafrost layer, it is mainly to prevent the pipes from freezing
The permafrost layer experiences vertical displacement; in winter, the water in the soil freezes, causing the soil to expand, which puts stress on pipelines and tanks
The depth of the permafrost layer is generally indicated in geological reports. The civil engineering team, as well as those responsible for buried pipelines and water supply systems, should strive to avoid the permafrost layer in order to prevent freezing. If pipes are buried in permafrost, insulation and anti-freezing measures must be considered
If possible, anything buried should be below the permafrost layer. There’s no need to worry about insulation – it saves time and effort.
