On the top of the reaction vessels or reactors in high-pressure hydrogen systems, in addition to safety valves, two sets of interlocked pressure relief systems equipped with flow-limiting orifice plates are generally installed. As I’ve seen in forums, people usually mention pressure relief settings of 7 bar and 14 bar, or 7 bar and 21 bar. I have a few questions: where do these pressure relief values come from? Are there any relevant standards or guidelines for this type of interlocked pressure relief design? In our current new project, the reaction vessel is equipped with two sets of pressure relief interlock lines fitted with flow-limiting orifice plates. Do these two sets of valves open simultaneously, or one after another? Are there any standards regarding the pressure when it is turned on? When releasing pressure, is only that release pressure taken into consideration, without needing to consider the amount of pressure released? I’m really confused about this; I hope the experts on this forum can help answer it.
