A Siemens 300 PLC rack can accommodate up to 8 IO modules. With the IM153-1 and IM153-2 modules from the ET200M, how many IO modules can each rack support? The latest version of IM153-2 is capable of supporting 12 IO modules, but this has only been seen in PCS7 redundant systems; it’s not clear how it works in 300PLC systems. I seek help from experts to answer this question
If using IM360+IM361 or IM365, there are 8 IO modules per rack; if using IM153 together with a baseplate, the maximum number of IO modules per rack remains 8. I recall that in the hardware configuration, IO modules can be inserted in slots 4 through 11. Is PCS7 all S7-400H?
In other words, no matter what IM153 is. As long as it has 300 CPUs, only 8 IO modules can be connected, right? ?
I’ve seen some people on the internet say that the latest IM153-2 can support 12, but I haven’t seen it myself. Generally, in a 300 system, it uses IM153-1, along with 8 IO modules connected to it.
IM153-2 can support up to 12 blocks; it has been tested on-site and works perfectly fine

No, 300 is what’s used on-site. As long as your rack can accommodate it, 12 units are possible for models 153-2; for model -1, up to 8 units are allowed
