Can the signal strength and quality be adjusted when calibrating an ultrasonic flow meter for water with an empty pipe?

The ultrasonic flow meter for measuring water has been installed; the pipeline is currently empty. Is it possible to check the signal strength and quality? Once it’s adjusted, can it be used right away once water is connected?

Most ultrasonic devices for measuring water are of the clamping type, so it doesn’t matter if they’re installed in operation.

It is best to test what medium it is under conditions where the tube is filled with that medium; it doesn’t matter whether it is stationary or not; I think it’s better to carry out the adjustments while the fluid is in flow

For the first time of use, the following parameters need to be set: 1. Sound speed of the liquid; 2. Operating temperature; 3. Pipe circumference or outer diameter; 4. Sound speed of the pipe material; 5. Wall thickness; 6. Sound speed of the lining material (if any); 7. Thickness of the lining (if any); 8. Sensor type; 9. Sensor layout (direct or reflective mode); 10. Length of the sensor cable

No high measurement accuracy is required; as long as the signal strength and quality are satisfactory, that’s enough.
