In a reaction vessel, a double-flange differential pressure level gauge is used; however, due to the presence of solid particles in the reaction mixture, these particles accumulate in a short pipe section located in front of the lower pressure transducer, resulting in an incorrect liquid level reading. For the pressure transfer plates of this type of level gauge, are there any that are installed in close contact with the wall of the reaction vessel, without any conduits in between?
Yes, a diaphragm transmitter will work; however, the reaction tank needs to have holes made in it, so it’s better to add flushing channels on both sides.
Agreed! Add rinse solution. But getting water is a problem!
When choosing double flanges, use insert flanges, that is, flanges with a protruding diaphragm; if the insertion depth exceeds that of the short pipe, the problem can be solved!
It’s simpler to take water in than to make holes in the reaction tank, right?
Now both double-flange types come equipped with flushing rings; a shut-off valve is installed at the water inlet, and a automatic cyclic rinsing process is implemented to solve the problem
As the person before mentioned, choosing a convex diaphragm isn’t very feasible either, as valves are usually equipped with flushing rings.
Get a radar or ultrasonic level gauge
There are solid particles and flushing fluid inside the reaction tank; moreover, the viscosity of the material also plays a role. Using a double-flange capillary with a convex flange on the H end is only a temporary solution – radar can address this issue properly.
The pressure tapping on the lower flange must be vertical. Consider the outlet pipe below the reactor (with the pipe section moving), so that the design opening of the equipment is vertical later on.
