I would appreciate it if experts could offer some guidance. I am using a guided wave radar level gauge; the gauge itself shows a normal level, but when the signal is sent to the remote display unit, it shows the full scale. What could be causing this? This issue persists even after trying several different display units. Could it be that the electronic module is damaged? Where can it be purchased? Can models from different brands be used together?
Use a signal generator to simulate and check whether it works properly. If it does work, then the level gauge output module is damaged; if it doesn’t work, there is an issue with the air circuit, such as a blockage or a problem with the channels
Just measure the level gauge’s output signal, and you’ll know, right? So, just switch to another table to test without even doing the most basic tasks?
It shows that the gauge is supposed to have a specified range; perhaps it hasn’t been set or the range differs from that of the instrument. Also, as everyone has said, send a fake signal to check whether the radar output module is damaged
The issue now is either related to the remote transmission gauge or an inconsistent range setting for it; a full-scale problem should not occur in either case. The first thing to do is to use a multimeter to check whether the current in the circuit exceeds 20mA. If it does, examine the settings of the radar level gauge. If those settings are correct, then there must be a problem with the output module of the level gauge.
First of all, thank you all for your participation. This 6.10-meter guided-wave radar level gauge has been stored in the warehouse for several years; it was recently installed and has been showing normal readings. Occasionally, the remote reading device would indicate a value of 5.888 meters, but these past couple of days it has been showing that value continuously. The local display still shows normal readings, and the current on the remote reading device is only 1.6 mA. I’m not sure whether there is a problem with the remote transmission module
Circuit current 1.6mA? Does the remote transmitter display full scale? The jump in the middle may be caused by feeding or other disturbances
On-site testing confirms that the instrument is functioning properly; check whether there is a discrepancy between the indoor and on-site measurement ranges, or if there is a fault with the safety barrier
Thank you all for your participation. It seems that the output module is damaged; replacing it with a new one restores normal functionality. It’s time to replace this old one; what’s the problem with it, and is it worth fixing? Do I have to buy it from the original manufacturer? Is it compatible with other brands?
Perform a loop test with HART475, then measure the actual current to check once again whether the ranges of the secondary instruments match.
:I’m also drunk. These days the readings have been abnormal, so I’ll get in touch with the manufacturer to order a new output module. Since the status at the site showed normal, new ones were installed. This afternoon, the remote monitoring system suddenly showed normal values again.
