Why are single-seat plug valves commonly used for oxygen control valves? And what makes plunger valves special, compared to the common stop valves?
Common single-seat valves achieve sealing by pressing the valve core against the valve seat; when the pressure difference is high, a large force from the actuator is required, which can easily lead to wear of the sealing surface and internal leakage. A plunger valve relies on a plunger and two sealing rings, one at the top and one at the bottom, to achieve sealing, which makes it less prone to wear.
What are the differences between plunger valves, globe valves, and GLOBE valves in the context of automatic control valves?
