Dear sea friends, has anyone used a portable ultrasonic flow meter? Please share your experience: is it useful? Which manufacturer is it? Any experiences with using it?
It’s not user-friendly; the testing process is very complicated, and there are many parameters that need to be set. If your medium is not available in the ultrasonic flow meter, you will need to find out what the speed of sound is in that medium. Additionally, during testing, the paint layer on the pipe is completely removed to reveal the metal color, and then a probe is positioned at a distance calculated by the system to conduct the test; it just doesn’t seem very portable.
Can’t you bear even this little trouble? To work with instruments, one must be patient and persistent in order to truly master the craft!
The accuracy is not high; the measurement results are unreliable, making it useless.

However, the price starts at 100,000+; I’m not sure if that’s within your budget. Our factory has one set each of G601 and F601 versions for gases and liquids, at around 400,000
When used as a toy, if you say it works well, then it indeed works well; but when used as a measuring instrument, precision in repeated measurements is of no importance at all – it’s not even as good as trash. If you don’t believe me, run it in a loop to keep the flow rate constant, remove the ultrasonic sensor, then reinstall it, and check the values it provides – just see how large the difference will be. When used as a measuring instrument, it’s not even good enough for excrement. Identification completed. .
Once you use it, you’ll realize it’s not very useful; currently, all we can do with it is measure the water flow rate, and it’s difficult to measure anything else.

What brand and model are you buying? What medium is being measured? Piping material? Flow rate range?
Portable ultrasonic devices are designed to have high precision, but they require too many conditions for measurement, which makes things quite difficult. For example, when measuring flow rate, information such as the pipe wall thickness, pipe dimensions, and the sound speed of the medium is required. Additionally, proper installation is necessary; it takes two or three people half a day to carry out this process, and the results obtained… well… are only for reference. It is merely used as a reference for flowmeters whose test results are disputed. It’s passable for use; if everything is set properly, the measurement accuracy is decent. I used a GE model from the United States back then to measure the large pipes in the circulating water system, and it worked fairly well.
