An electromagnetic flowmeter is a flowmeter that measures flow based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. Its types include: intelligent electromagnetic flowmeters, split-type electromagnetic flowmeters, integrated electromagnetic flowmeters, and insert-type electromagnetic flowmeters. The products offer quality assurance, good stability, and a high cost-performance ratio. Electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in various fields such as sewage treatment, fluorine chemical industry, process water, tap water industry, as well as in pharmaceuticals, steel manufacturing, and many others. Our factory’s technical staff have analyzed and summarized the failures that occur after using electromagnetic flowmeters, and found that there are four main reasons for the unstable operation of these flowmeters: First, if the medium flowing through the pipe does not fill the entire pipe, the electromagnetic flowmeter cannot function properly. Because, in the case of a pipe that is not fully filled with medium, electromagnetic flowmeters experience the most common application-related failures. There are generally two possible reasons for this situation: 1) The flow rate of the medium in the pipeline is very low, resulting in an under-filled pipe and increased measurement errors by the flow meter; 2) The medium does not cover the electrodes, preventing the flow meter from functioning at all. Therefore, under any circumstances, it is necessary to ensure that the measuring medium fills the pipeline before using an electromagnetic flowmeter for measurement. Secondly, the presence of a large amount of air and gases in the medium can also prevent the electromagnetic flowmeter from functioning properly. The presence of these bubbles prevents the flow meter from making accurate distinctions, interfering with its precise measurements. Third, electromagnetic flowmeters cannot be used for batching operations that last for a short period of time. This is because the electromagnetic flowmeter cannot start and stop properly repeatedly, and there is a time lag between its startup and the acquisition of an accurate reading. Fourth, an electromagnetic flowmeter cannot measure mass flow by itself. An electromagnetic flowmeter is a type of velocity flowmeter that measures volumetric flow rate; to measure mass flow rate, it must be used in conjunction with a high-precision density measurement device for conversion. Therefore, technicians advise that by carefully analyzing the reasons behind unstable operation or errors in electromagnetic flowmeters, and by taking appropriate measures to address those issues, accurate measurement values can be obtained. At the same time, the technical editor also explained that the reason why the signal becomes weaker as the electromagnetic flowmeter operates is as follows: 1. Dirt may accumulate on the inner wall of the measurement conduit; it is necessary to clean and wipe the electrodes. 2. The measurement conduit lining may be damaged and should be replaced. 3. The signal socket may be corroded and should be replaced and cleaned. Flow metering is one of the components of metrological science and technology, and it is closely related to the national economy, national defense construction, and scientific research. Doing this job well plays an important role in ensuring product quality, improving production efficiency, and promoting the development of science and technology. Especially in today’s era of energy crises and an increasing degree of automation in industrial production, the significance and role of flow meters in the national economy have become even more evident.
