In DCS distributed control, the computer at the upper level is responsible only for management, while most of the control is carried out by the controllers at the lower level. With computer control (that is, computer-based functions), the computer is responsible for carrying out the tasks of control and management, and this approach is commonly used in small, stand-alone, pure data acquisition systems.
