Hello, masters! I have a question I’d like to ask. Previously, for the entire system’s instrument air supply, no instrument air storage tank was installed. Now, the instruments require a storage tank with a capacity of 25 cubic meters to hold instrument air at 1 megapascal pressure. It is also suggested to remove the pressure regulator and use instrument air at 1 megapascal directly. My question is: since the instrument air pressure was previously set to 0.7 megapascal after pressure reduction, is it okay to avoid using a pressure regulator and use air at 1 megapascal directly?

The provisions of HG/T20510-2014 Standard for Instrument Air Supply are as follows: 4.2 Pressure delivered by the air supply unit to various sections of the equipment 4.2.1 Based on the requirements for selecting pneumatic instruments in the design, the pressure range that the air supply unit should deliver to each section of the equipment is preferably: 500 kPa(G) ~ 700 kPa(G). The specified minimum pressure value is the lowest pressure delivered by the air supply unit to various sections of the device; if this value is exceeded, an audible and visual alarm should be activated, along with appropriate safety measures.
As long as the equipment being used can handle such high pressures, a pressure regulator is generally required, with a pressure level of around 6-8 bar
