But it is currently in the design phase, so it is not possible to see the actual product or the site. I’ve read some information online and on forums, and I’ve also posted replies, but I don’t quite understand the fundamental purpose of using a dew point meter. Please take a look. As it was my own misguided interpretation, it might seem a bit absurd, so I hope you can understand. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The dew point, as the name implies, is the temperature at which the first drop of water appears when the temperature drops to a certain level; therefore, measuring the system’s dew point indicates the level of dryness in the air. - OK, I get that. So, there is now a dew point meter that shows a certain temperature, for example, 10 degrees. How should I understand this 10 degrees? 1. First interpretation: Check the room temperature. For example, if the room temperature is 20 degrees, but the dew point indicated by the dew point meter is 10 degrees, then dew formation will occur only when the temperature drops to 10 degrees. Since the current temperature is 20 degrees, no dew will form, so it’s safe and there’s no need to worry. 2. The second interpretation: there is a lookup table that shows the moisture content in the air corresponding to the temperature displayed by the dew point meter; I set an alarm value (it should be a temperature value, right?) ), that is, once this temperature is reached, it is considered that the moisture content in the air is too high and has an impact on the equipment; therefore, dehumidification is necessary to reduce the moisture level. I’m not sure if it’s correct; I hope everyone can explain it to me, preferably in simpler terms. (The internet is full of information on principles and types, but very little is said about the fundamental purpose of a dew point meter; one can only guess on their own.)
Is it necessary to study*, or just to understand the relevant measuring products?
The first one is correctly understood, the second one is inaccurate. If it is necessary to control dew formation or relative humidity (for alarm purposes), the difference between the actual temperature and the dew point temperature should be used as the parameter for detection.
There are so many experts in the forum, then why isn’t anyone replying? I am a manufacturer of dew point meters, based in the UK. The second interpretation is correct; the temperature shown on a dew point meter refers to the \"dew point temperature\". The notation \"dp\" is used to indicate the difference from the ambient temperature. For example, -60°C dp corresponds to a certain moisture content in ppm, and this can be looked up in tables. Modern dew point meters come equipped with software for such conversions. Dew point value, ppm, relative humidity. These three are different ways of representation; the specific conversions between them as well as the influencing factors cannot be explained here – a PPT is needed to clarify them
