Questions regarding the settings of the e h cm442 level gauge

Our factory has an eh cm442 level gauge used to measure the mud level; the sensor is already connected. Now it is necessary to set some parameters in the cm442 unit. Under the tank settings, there are two options: interface water depth and interface mud depth. I chose interface water depth. In the tank depth field, I entered 4 meters as the height from the water surface to the bottom of the tank. Since the level gauge is inserted into the water, with an insertion depth of 2.3 meters from the water surface, I entered 2.3 in the zero-point adjustment field and 4 meters in the output field. What I need to measure is the mud level; is this setting correct? Or can I enter 1.7 for the tank depth and 0 for zero adjustment? Would that work?
Setting it to 2.3 is incorrect; it should be set to 1.7. However, this device isn’t very useful, and it’s not entirely E+H’s fault. If the layers aren’t separated properly, then no measurement can be taken. I used to struggle with this issue when I was an engineer.
