Are there any safety distance requirements between the cable trenches in petrochemical plants and the oil storage tanks in those areas? GB 50160-2018 \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\" 9.1.4 Cable trenches within installations shall have measures to prevent the accumulation of combustible gases or the entry into these trenches of wastewater containing combustible liquids. The wall openings through which cables enter the substation and control room should be filled and sealed properly. 9.1.5 In cable trenches and cable tunnels located within 30 m of equipment that releases flammable gases heavier than air, measures shall be taken to prevent the intrusion and accumulation of such gases. 9.1.6 Cables in installations where Class A gases that are heavier than air may be released should be flame-retardant and preferably installed overhead. It seems there’s no distance requirement? 2. Can cable lines be buried?

It’s not clear what the poster means by ‘cable trench’, but the alarms and certain instrumentation cables in the tank area can be buried; in such cases, galvanized conduit should be used to ensure corrosion protection. The use of cable trenches as you mentioned is likely not allowed. You can think about it this way: in the event of a leak, could the materials flow outside the enclosure through those cable trenches? Also, could those materials cause corrosion to the cables in case of a leak? What if sparks occur in the cables located in those cable trenches? There are no regulations regarding this, and just because there are no such rules doesn’t mean that the safety inspection authorities will approve such practice. Apart from national standards, there are also provincial standards, as well as management requirements specific to industrial parks.
