One shaft of the vibration probes for our company’s syngas compressor has two probes, and the deviation between them is quite large: one is 20 microns, while the other is 45 microns. I would like to ask about the possible reasons and the principle of the vibration probe
1: First, check the installation positions of the two probes and observe the distance between them; it’s possible that the vibration at the front end of the shaft is low while it’s higher at the back end. 2: If conditions permit, verify the probes when the machine is shut down. It’s best to remove the pre-amplifier as well as the extension cables in order to conduct the verification

This is quite normal; wait for the machine to stop and then conduct inspections and verifications. It’s more convincing to have spare parts

The vibration probes are all on the coupling side, at the same shaft diameter position.
Swap the wiring pairs of the two probes to rule out issues other than those related to the probes and the unit itself
One large and one small – there’s no problem with that. It’s installed at a 39-degree angle, so it’s normal for the vibrations to be different in the two directions; simply put, left and right are different from up and down
Swapping the probe and preamplifier on the 8th floor is a common approach to rule out probe and wiring faults
After shutting down, a multimeter can be used to measure the voltage in order to check whether the probe is at zero; if not, it can be adjusted. If considering swapping the probe and preamplifier at zero position to rule it out
