I’m seeking advice from experts: if I want to control the temperature of the gas inside a reactor, where there are rapid temperature changes, and the gas is slightly corrosive as well as under pressure higher than atmospheric pressure. It seems that using a probe sleeve will introduce detection latency; what kind of temperature sensor should be used or how should this issue be addressed? Thank you:lol
As a supplement, the temperature range is between -20 and 80.
First, for the thermometer, one with a protective sleeve is suitable; a PT100 thermistor temperature transmitter will do, and the sleeve can be made of a corrosion-resistant material. Since the temperature inside the reactor does not exceed 100°C, PTFE can be used, and the control is achieved by adjusting the cooling medium via valves. The adjustment range is determined based on temperature changes

Previously, I was quite nervous when working in the chemical industry. As for temperature measurement inside reaction vessels where rapid reactions that generate heat occur (such as hydrogen filling), how is it usually designed? Or is the latency when a protective sleeve is used usually within acceptable limits?
There is definitely some delay, but it’s basically negligible. Therefore, metals are usually chosen due to their higher thermal conductivity; in some casings, heat transfer oil is added to enhance thermal efficiency.
The response speed of PT100 is relatively slow; we need fast temperature measurement here, so it is recommended to use thermocouples.
