Can the fermentation broth be measured using an electromagnetic flow meter? Could its very low conductivity make measurement impossible?
Using an electromagnetic flowmeter to measure the fermentation broth might be the best option. 1. The conductivity of the fermentation broth is generally not very low, as microbial growth requires nutrients and certain inorganic salts; this factor determines that the conductivity of the fermentation broth does not drop significantly. 2. There is a large amount of suspended matter in the fermentation broth, and most other types of flow meters have internal measuring elements that can be affected by this suspended matter. In contrast, electromagnetic flow meters do not have any such obstructing elements aside from the measuring electrodes. 3. The inner wall of an electromagnetic flow meter is smooth, which ensures that there are no dead corners during cleaning and disinfection procedures, thus meeting hygiene standards. 4. Electromagnetic flow meters offer high precision and virtually no pressure loss, making them suitable for measuring flow in pipelines with low pressure and low flow rates
Okay, thank you. I also have a question: aren’t level switches generally unsuitable for measuring crystalline liquids? This holds true even for contactless ultrasonic switches. Additionally, when there are coils inside the tank, should the pH meter be kept at a distance from those coils? I think the temperature around the coils is higher than the overall temperature of the liquid in the tank, and since pH is affected by temperature, I was wondering if I’m overthinking this.
