Current situation: There are a large variety of alarm types within the company, with thousands of them appearing each day. No distinction is made between HH, h ll l; they all have the same color and sound, which causes visual and auditory fatigue among the operators and makes it difficult for them to cope. Improvement expectations: Out of all the alarm points across the company, 1,000 have been selected for special consideration. These 1,000 alarm points need to be classified into three levels – one, two, and three – with distinct colors for the alarms to differentiate them from other alarms; additionally, three-color alarm lights will be installed, each corresponding to one of these three alert levels. I was wondering if this kind of work is demanding for experts; since I want to entrust it to Yokogawa, I’m thinking that after this renovation, if new alarm points are added, how difficult would it be for the company to handle it on its own? Is it involving large-scale code modifications? Waiting for experts to give advice!
The workload isn’t large; it can be accomplished with just a few logic gates. The question is, are you sure Yokogawa is willing to take on such a small task?
The first thing to consider should be why there are so many alarms – analyze the reasons! In the case of large petrochemical plants, under normal operating conditions, there should not be so many alarms.
