Interlocking of motor start/stop, and the operating status of the motor. At which end should the shield wire of the interlock cable between the instrument cabinet room and the electrical distribution room be grounded?
We have received a request to implement single-sided grounding for the instrument cabinet
Between the electrical and instrumentation disciplines, the signal connection cables are grounded on the instrumentation side, while the power connections are grounded on the electrical side.
It depends on the situation. In all the projects I’ve worked on, there is a dedicated instrument and electrical transfer cabinet in the electrical distribution room; the electrical side is grounded electrically, while the instrument side is grounded indirectly through the instrument cabinets. In short, it should still be single-point grounding. If it doesn’t go through the instrument and electrical transfer cabinet, I have a personal suggestion: for the interaction between electrical and instrument signals, there is definitely a dry contact side and a power supply side; it might be advisable to ground the side that supplies power to the signals. In other words, if power is supplied from the electrical side, it is grounded on the electrical side; if power is supplied from the instrument side, it is grounded on the instrument side. Of course, this is a bit troublesome; grounding it to either side directly isn’t a big issue. Nowadays, grounding grid designs are used, so the probability of problems occurring with grounding is extremely low.
What was said upstairs is correct; single-ended grounding is the proper solution
Catch a big shot alive. For signal lines, no matter how they are connected, it’s sufficient to connect them to the ground at a single point; this is the correct way to do it. A type of two-terminal grounding that I only learned about recently is when the shielding layer of an armored cable is connected at both ends, for lightning protection purposes.
