On December 30, WuXi Kunlun Fuji Instruments Company announced that the first such chromatograph developed by the company has been delivered to a high-end polyolefin project run by LanHai New Materials, and it is set to be put into industrial use soon. This is the first time that a high-end olefin project in China has used domestic equipment for the testing of its key components, marking an important breakthrough for China in the field of self-sufficiency in high-end industrial analysis instruments. As a key quality \"gatekeeper\" in the production of high-end polyolefins, helium ionization chromatographs must achieve ultra-high sensitivity on the order of ppb (one billionth) to accurately detect trace impurities such as hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen in polymeric-grade ethylene and propylene, requiring extremely high technical standards. During equipment calibration, helium ions are highly susceptible to contamination; it is necessary to continuously supply high-purity nitrogen for purging until the baseline signal level falls below 3000 before the equipment can be operated, making process control extremely challenging. In the face of technical challenges, the company’s project team has been focusing on areas such as seal inspection, insulation testing, and gas circuit calibration to keep making progress. To address the key bottleneck of baseline signal fluctuations during debugging, we thoroughly checked the airtightness, environmental interference, and component compatibility. By optimizing the purging process and precisely adjusting the parameters, we managed to keep the baseline signal stable at below 2000, which is better than the preset standard. It is understood that it took just over a month from the signing of the contract to the official delivery of the first set of equipment. This not only filled the gap in Bohai Equipment’s offerings in the field of high-end analytical instruments for polyolefins, but also set a new record for the efficiency with which such high-end industrial analytical instruments can be produced domestically, thereby providing strong support in terms of domestic equipment for the improvement and upgrading of the polyolefin industry.
