The allowable stress of metals changes with temperature; generally, as the temperature rises, the allowable stress decreases. For the corresponding gauge chamber, the manufacturer provides a reference value at 38 degrees; the higher the temperature of the working fluid or the environment, the lower the pressure resistance.

Most instruments or valves abroad will indicate the pressure value at the corresponding temperature on the equipment’s nameplate, which represents the range of application. When selecting flanges, we also take into account the maximum allowable operating pressure at the corresponding highest or lowest temperatures; exceeding this value can affect the proper functioning of the flange.
