Real-time online monitoring and analysis of particulate matter in the atmosphere have become important methods for assessing air quality. It is essential to measure and verify the accuracy and reliability of samplers, analytical instruments, and other devices used for atmospheric monitoring. The laminar flow mass flow meter and controller developed by Eddy Smart utilize industry-leading patented laminar flow pressure difference technology, enabling the calibration and control of flow parameters for various types of devices such as atmospheric samplers, dynamic calibrators, gas analyzers, and Sommer tube samplers. Why is it said that laminar flow mass flow meters have a competitive advantage in measurement and calibration within the environmental protection industry? First, we need to understand the actual operating conditions in the environmental protection industry. Regarding flow calibration, atmospheric samplers require regular maintenance. One of the tasks involved in this maintenance is to calibrate the flow measurement module of the sampler. The flow rate required for samplers is generally the volumetric flow rate under operating conditions, rather than the volumetric flow rate under standard conditions. Laminar mass flow meters can not only measure the volumetric flow rate under standard conditions but also that under operating conditions; when such flow rate is needed, it is sufficient to switch to this mode on-site. For the flow calibration of standard samplers, we usually opt for flow meters with low pressure loss. Since mass flow meters need to be installed within the pipeline, excessive pressure loss can affect the value of volumetric flow rate and lead to measurement errors. Flow meters with low pressure loss have a pressure loss of less than 1 Kpa, which allows them to operate virtually unnoticed within the pipeline, thereby ensuring accurate measurements. The portable laminar flow mass flow meter from Yidu Smart is equipped with a rechargeable battery, allowing for flow calibration and maintenance of the sampler at outdoor monitoring stations, thereby enhancing the convenience of operation and maintenance tasks. Additionally, in terms of flow control, let’s talk about the Suma tank sampler. Sampling with a Suma tank requires collecting a certain amount of air sample within a specific time frame; the tank gradually moves from a vacuum state to normal pressure, and during this process a flow controller is needed to supply air into the tank at a steady rate, so that the tank is filled completely either within 24 hours or within 1 hour. This imposes several requirements on the flow control system of the Suma tank sampler: First, the range ratio of the flow controller must be wide, as the varying sampling times result in different requirements regarding the flow rate. For a tank with a capacity of 3000 ml, if air samples are to be collected over a period of 1 hour, a flow rate of 50 ml/min is required; whereas if samples are to be collected over 24 hours, the controller needs to be set to a flow rate of 2 ml/min ; Secondly, the response time must be fast. Traditional thermal mass flow meters suffer from overshoot; that is, when such flow controllers are started, their slow response time results in an excessively high instantaneous flow rate, which causes a large amount of fluid to enter the tank in an instant. As a result, the tank gets filled within just over 10 hours, instead of the usual 24-hour collection period. The most prominent advantage of laminar flow mass flow controllers is their fast response time, which stems from the design principles of these controllers; as a result, overshoot during startup is avoided. Therefore, the laminar mass flow controller in the Suma tank sampling process offers industry-leading advantages. Secondly, in terms of the application of gas diluters, the same wide range ratio of 100:1, along with fast response times, makes the calibration process more reliable and convenient. In particular, the precise and rapid control of flow rates in the low-range range, along with the ability to freely switch between more than 40 built-in gases, makes it easier for users to integrate this device and enhances its versatility. Through the above introduction, one can fully understand the irreplaceable advantages of laminar flow mass flow meters in the environmental protection industry.
