Rosemount temperature transmitters are a common type of transmitter used for measuring temperature. The Rosemount temperature transmitters mainly include the Rosemount 148 temperature transmitter, Rosemount 248 temperature transmitter, Rosemount 644 temperature transmitter, and Rosemount 3144P temperature transmitter. Among them, the Rosemount 3144P temperature transmitter is the most advanced among Rosemount temperature transmitters. Today, we will discuss the installation steps for the Rosemount 3144P temperature transmitter. We should install the Rosemount temperature transmitter at the highest point of the cable ducts to prevent moisture from entering the transmitter’s enclosure. I. Typical on-site installation 1. Install the heat sleeve on the wall of the process vessel. 2. Install and tighten the heat sleeve. 3. Perform a leak check. 4. Connect all necessary unions, couplings, and extension tube fittings. Seal the threads of the fittings with a certified thread sealant, such as silicone or PTFE tape (depending on requirements). 5. Screw the sensor into the heat sleeve, or directly onto the process pipeline (depending on the installation requirements). 6. Verify all sealing requirements. 7. Install the transmitter on the heat shroud/sensor. Seal all threads with a certified thread sealant, such as silicone or PTFE tape (as required). 8. Install the on-site wiring conduit into the transmitter conduit inlet (for split-mounted installations), and connect the wires to the transmitter housing. 9. Pull the on-site wiring terminals to the terminal side of the enclosure. 10. Connect the sensor leads to the sensor terminals of the transmitter (the wiring diagram is in the cover). 11. Typical split-type installation 1. Install the thermal sleeve on the wall of the process vessel. 2. Install and tighten the heat sleeve. 3. Perform a leak check. 4. Connect the junction box to the heat shroud. 5. Insert the sensor into the heat sleeve, and connect the sensor to the terminal box (the wiring diagram is located inside the terminal box). 6. Use an installation bracket option (B4 bracket, as shown below) to mount the transmitter on a 50 mm (2-inch) pipe or panel. 7. Install the cable seal on the shielded cable from the junction box to the inlet of the transmitter conduit. 8. Run the shielded cable back to the control room from the conduit entrance on the other side of the transmitter. 9. Insert the shielded cable into the junction box/transmitter through the cable entry. Connect and tighten the cable seal joint. 10. Connect the shielded cable leads to the terminal blocks in the junction box (inside the junction box) and to the sensor terminals (inside the transmitter housing). A. Cable sealing joint B.
