What do the numbers after the hyphens in relays such as KA1-2, KA5-1, etc. in the markings mean? How do I understand the local/remote switching indicated by the red box?
You don’t know anything about electrical systems at all; learn slowly. For the first question, KA5-1: the number 1 refers to the first set of contacts of the relay, while 2 refers to the second set of contacts. The buttons inside the box are those found in the local control panel. It’s a bit strange though – whether it’s in local or remote mode, operation still requires use of the buttons on-site. SB1 is the button for opening the valve locally, SB2 is for closing it locally, SB3 is for moving it locally, SB4 is the button for opening the valve remotely, SB5 is for closing it remotely, and SB6 is for moving it remotely. As for KA9, its function isn’t clear; it gets powered whenever it’s set to local mode. In theory, it could be used as an indicator of local/remote mode to feed information to the DCS, but you haven’t used it – I don’t know why
