What is the role of instrument grounding in explosive atmospheres? Explosion protection requirements? Lightning protection requirements?
SH/T 3081-2019 \"Code for Design of Grounding in Petrochemical Instrumentation Systems\" 4.1.4 In non-explosive hazardous environments, the metal enclosures, metal protection boxes, and metal wiring boxes of field instruments with a supply voltage below 36V do not require protective grounding; however, those that may come into contact with equipment operating at voltages higher than 36V must be provided with protective grounding. 4.1.5 In explosive hazard environments, the metal enclosures, metal protective boxes, and metal wiring boxes of field instruments in non-intrinsically safe systems shall be provided with protective grounding, whereas such enclosures, protective boxes, and wiring boxes for field instruments in intrinsically safe systems need not have protective grounding.
Many experts have come to our factory, but none of them mentioned the need to ground the instruments. However, the regulations clearly state that electrostatic grounding is required in explosion-prone areas. I have no idea why
The 3rd floor has given a clear response: grounding in explosion-proof areas is necessary mainly to prevent the instrument enclosures from becoming charged due to non-safe voltages, which could cause injury to people and also serve as a source of ignition.
Follow the specifications; each expert has their own set of rules :lol:lol
