First of all, one must be able to adapt to the dietary habits characterized by high levels of fats, proteins (and calories) in high-altitude environments, including consuming some traditional Tibetan foods such as milk tea, tsampa, and highland barley wine. Next is adapting to daily living habits: keep the pace slow and the movements gentle; don’t try to be overly ambitious. Another point is that when engaging in outdoor activities, especially over long distances, it is essential to go in groups. It is also necessary to respect some of the customs and taboos of the Tibetan people.
