Regional alarms are not required in the control room of petrochemical plants. Area alarms are mainly installed at production and storage and transportation facilities; they are a type of zone alarm designed to be placed on-site so that the people working there can detect alarm signals. In accordance with the \"Design Standards for Detection and Alarm of Flammable and Toxic Gases in Petrochemical Industries,\" the installation of area alarms is required at the sites of production and storage and transportation facilities; since the control room does not fall within these site areas, there is no need to install area alarms in the control rooms of petrochemical enterprises. 【Reference 1】\"Design Code for Detection and Alarm of Flammable and Toxic Gases in Petrochemical Industries\" (GB/T 50493-2019) 5.3.1 The detection and alarm systems for flammable and toxic gases shall be divided into alarm zones based on the installations or units in production and storage and transportation facilities; an on-site alarm device shall be installed in each alarm zone. The activation signal for the area alarm should use the second-level alarm setpoint signal. The number of area alarms should be such that personnel on site at any location within that area can detect the alarm. According to the regulations on the installation locations of area alarms set out in relevant standards, the control rooms in petrochemical enterprises are not within the required installation areas; therefore, there is no need to install area alarms there.
