I would appreciate some expert advice: I am currently working on a process analysis for the dry distillation of lignite, and it is necessary to recover the volatiles generated during this process in stages – such as water, gas, tar, and inorganic volatiles. According to available information, the main process used for coal dry distillation is multi-stage rotary kilns; however, I believe that such equipment is complex and not suitable for carrying out the entire process in one step. I personally feel that using a tunnel kiln is better; it can be heated with water gas, and the flue gases produced by the combustion of gas can maintain a reducing atmosphere inside the furnace. They can also be used as high-temperature carrier gases. However, the recycling process is more complicated, and there is no guarantee that no leakage of gas will occur during recycling. I was able to find 2 articles on the dry distillation of coal using tunnel kilns, but I don’t know whether the experiments were successful later on. I would also like to ask whether there are exhaust fans capable of withstanding high-temperature smoke at around 1300 degrees, what their price is, and whether they are suitable for use. Thank you! We can reach 950°C, but still not at full capacity (around 75-85%), and this is likely the limit in China.
