Recently, the resource utilization and comprehensive upgrading demonstration project for producing coal-to-methanol at Xinjiang Zhongtai New Materials Co., Ltd. made key progress, with the Jinhua Furnace 3.0 successfully passing a 72-hour performance test. Under the joint witness of the owner, designer, and process package provider, the evaluation results showed that the unit operates stably, and all technical indicators of the Jinhua Furnace meet or exceed the design values. During the 72-hour continuous testing period, key parameters of the Jinhua Furnace 3.0, such as processing load, gasification efficiency, carbon conversion rate, and the effective components of syngas, performed excellently. This technology has successfully achieved a simultaneous increase in both the high carbon conversion rate and the comprehensive energy utilization efficiency of the system. The gasification unit of the Resource Comprehensive Utilization and Upgrading Demonstration Project for Methanol Production from Coal by Xinjiang Zhongtai New Materials Co., Ltd. utilizes the technology of the coal-water slurry water-cooled wall waste heat boiler gasifier (Jinhua Furnace 3.0) developed by Beijing Qingchuang Jinhua Technology Co., Ltd. Two in operation and one on standby. The gasification pressure is 6.5 MpaG, and the total gas volume is 280,000 Nm3/h (CO+H2). The construction site of the Xinjiang Zhongtai New Materials Resource Utilization and Upgrading Demonstration Project for Coal-to-Methanol Production is located within the Tongxin Industrial Park in Alehui Town, Toksun County, Xinjiang. The project utilizes the waste gas and residues (coke powder and coal dust) generated as by-products from the existing semi-coke production facility operated by Zhongtai Group in Toksun County as raw materials to build a methanol production plant with an annual capacity of 1 million tons. Scale of Construction: An annual production capacity of 1 million tons of methanol
Construction Content: The project uses waste gas and undersize materials (coal powder and coke fines) as raw materials to produce methanol. The planned production capacity is 1 million tons of refined methanol per year, along with by-products including 25,000 tons of sulfuric acid, 1,500 tons of ammonia water, 15,000 tons of industrial sodium chloride, and 3,000 tons of mirabilite. The construction scope mainly includes air separation units, gasification units, shift and purification units, sulfur recovery units, and methanol production units. Complementary utility and auxiliary projects include gas protection and fire stations, waste heat utilization systems, a 110 kV main substation, a water treatment plant, a circulating water station, a demineralized water plant, steam boilers, heat exchange stations, administrative offices, auxiliary production areas, auxiliary warehouses, and flares. Storage and transportation facilities such as a coal conveying system, liquid loading/unloading stations, methanol tank farms, and acid/base tank farms have also been constructed. Additionally, environmental protection facilities like a sewage treatment plant, a temporary storage facility for general solid waste, and a temporary storage facility for hazardous waste have been built.
