Hello everyone. I would like to ask if there is any gasification process that allows liquid molten ash to be directly discharged outside the gasifier If not, is it feasible to modify the vaporizer? Thank you!
I don’t quite understand your question, but currently, there are gasification furnaces that allow for liquid slag discharge: these include fluidized-bed gasification (both coal-water slurry gasification and dry powder gasification enable liquid slag discharge, though cooling is required afterward), as well as some fixed-bed gasifications such as BGL. Is your question about discharging the liquid slag directly outside? If so, what is the purpose of that?
I want to discharge the slag in liquid form directly outside the furnace for use in the production of other products. I still need to heat the cold solid slag to melt it. This will waste more energy. Then take a look to see if there is anything suitable for you in the fixed-bed type; the pressure in the fluidized-bed gasification process is too high, making it difficult to discharge slag in a liquid state under high pressure
BGL refers to liquid slag removal, but the liquid slag that is removed is turned into a solid state through a quenching system. I’m not sure how it will be utilized downstream; the ash and slag that come out after vaporization in the furnace are in a pressurized, liquid molten state. We can discuss this in more detail if needed
I work on the comprehensive utilization of coal-related solid wastes, focusing mainly on fly ash and coal gangue; I don’t know much about coal gasification. I believe that making good use of the liquid slag produced by gasification in high-value applications would be highly beneficial for improving the overall economic efficiency of gasification. It reduces energy waste during the water quenching of slag. When combined with IGCC technology, the conversion rate of coal resources can be maximized. Reduce the emission of fly ash and slag. This is just an idea for now. So I need to discuss this with everyone.

Your idea made me think of Shell’s radiation waste boiler gasifier – it first uses the heat from the ash to generate high-pressure, high-quality steam, and then employs raw gas for cooling. I thought you were using the liquid slag for other purposes.
