Recently, the project for producing 30,000 tons of chlorinated paraffins per year at Shanxi Lu’an Fine Wax Chemicals Co., Ltd. started trial operation in the Lucheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, marking a milestone in Lucheng’s efforts to promote industrial transformation and upgrading as well as to extend the coal chemical industry chain. The total investment in this project is approximately 100 million yuan. It is capable of producing 30,000 tons of chlorinated paraffins per year, along with 48,000 tons of hydrochloric acid as a by-product. Once operational, it will generate an annual output value of 156 million yuan and profits and taxes amounting to 6 million yuan, while providing employment for nearly 100 people. This project uses chlorine, liquid paraffin, stabilizers (epoxidized soybean oil), etc. as raw materials and auxiliary materials, and produces chlorinated paraffins through processes such as chlorination, hydrochloric acid treatment, and waste gas treatment. This product is a chlorinated derivative of paraffinic hydrocarbons, featuring low volatility, flame-retardant properties, plasticizing effects, wear resistance, and good electrical insulation. It can be used as a flame retardant and plasticizer, and is widely applied in the production of plastics, coatings, lubricants, cable materials, flooring materials, hoses, synthetic leather, rubber, and other industries.
