From October 18 to 19, the achievements related to the localization of three projects within Sinopec Group’s large-scale coal processing initiatives – namely the DCS system, methanol synthesis gas compression units, and large-scale water-cooled/air-cooled methanol synthesis reactors – were appraised in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. The application of these three projects is a first in China’s coal chemical industry, marking a new breakthrough in the domestic development of major equipment by Sinopec. With a number of technologies covered by independent intellectual property rights, they have contributed to the technological advancement of China’s domestic industry. This DCS system is a major domestic technology development project of Sinopec Group in 2016, and it serves as the central control system for Zhongtian Hechuang. Previously, the DCS systems for large-scale modern coal chemical and ethylene projects were largely dominated by imported products. Over the past three years, by leveraging the overall strengths of the group company, Zhongtian Hechuang took the lead in coordinating Zhejiang Zhongkong Technology Co., Ltd., Ningbo Engineering Company, Engineering Construction Company, and Shanghai Engineering Company to work together intensively on this project. As a result, the system succeeded in its first trial run and has operated reliably for two consecutive years, marking a crucial step forward in the application of domestic DCS systems in large-scale, complex chemical plants. The syngas compression unit and the large-scale water-cooled and air-cooled synthesis reactor are the core dynamic and static equipment of this plant, respectively. Previously, the core equipment used in domestic facilities of similar scale was all imported. The syngas compression unit used this time was jointly manufactured by Shenyang Blower Group, Hangzhou Turbine Co., Ltd., and others. The large-scale water-cooled/air-cooled composite reactor was designed by Ningbo Engineering Company and manufactured by the Chemical Machinery Factory of Nanhua Company. After two years of stable operation, the key technical parameters of the syngas compression unit and the large-scale water-cooled and air-cooled synthesis reactor have fully met the required standards, filling the gap in domestic independent design and manufacturing.
