On June 19, the hydrostatic test of Boiler No. 1 in the boiler island unit of Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials Co., Ltd.’s 1 million-ton ethylene glycol production project was completed successfully in one attempt – there were no leaks at any welds, and the metal walls of the pressure-bearing components as well as the welds showed no signs of deformation, cracking, or leakage. The expansion of various system components was normal, and the valves closed tightly. To ensure the safety and quality of the boiler hydrostatic testing process, the relevant departments have established on-site inspection teams for the hydrostatic testing. These teams strictly follow the specific plan for hydrostatic testing as well as relevant regulations, and oversee various aspects such as water quality, water supply temperature, water supply rate, pressure increase/decrease rates, and boiler expansion throughout the entire process. During this hydrostatic test, the maximum pressure reached 13.975 MPa; after maintaining this pressure for 20 minutes, it was reduced to the operating pressure. All system equipment performed normally during the test, meeting the requirements for hydrostatic testing. The completion of the hydrostatic test has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent operation of the boiler. Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Jutai Group. It was registered in March 2017, covers an area of 2,565 mu in total, and has a total investment of 13.3 billion yuan. The capacity of the first-phase project is 1 million tons per year of ethylene glycol production. The project utilizes aerospace coal gasification and Shell’s gasification technologies, low-temperature methanol washing technology, as well as the world-leading formaldehyde hydroxymethylation technology from Davy Company to produce ethylene glycol. This process represents the world’s first large-scale industrial installation, offering advantages such as advanced technology, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and high conversion rates. The project construction period is 3 years, with trial operations planned for 2020 and full production starting in 2021. After going into production, annual sales can reach 10.6 billion yuan, with profits and taxes amounting to 3.66 billion yuan.
