The first gasifier for the coal comprehensive utilization project under the Shenhua Yulin circular economy initiative arrived on site. Author/Source: Huahua Net Coal Chemicals. Date: May 21, 2019. Clicks: 19. On May 16, the first gasifier of the gasification unit, which is part of the first phase of this project undertaken by Tianchen Company, arrived at the site successfully. The Shenhua Yulin CTC-1 coal gasification unit employs General Electric’s (GE) large-cooling, high-efficiency water-coal slurry gasification technology. The project features 5 gasifiers of a single series, each with a coal feeding capacity of 3,100 tons per day on a dry basis; these gasifiers operate under a pressure of 6.5 MPa. The facility is capable of producing 1.8 million tons of methanol per year (for use in olefin production), as well as 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol and other high-value downstream products. The gasifier is the main equipment in a gasification plant; it weighs over 400 tons, and the length of the vehicle used for transporting it is 80 meters. Due to the excessive length of the transport vehicles and the heavy load they carry, high requirements are placed on the road’s levelness and load-bearing capacity at the site. To meet the requirements for transporting large items and ensure that critical equipment arrives on time, construction managers work in advance with relevant specialists to plan the transportation route. Once the plan was finalized, construction workers and machinery were immediately mobilized to work overtime through the night to ensure that the transportation routes and lifting areas met the required load-bearing standards before the gasifier arrived at the site. The first gasifier of the project’s gasification unit was successfully transported to its designated location as scheduled, marking another key milestone in the project as large-scale equipment is installed in place. The first-phase project of the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project is a preliminary phase of this project (the CTC Project). It also serves as a facility for producing methanol raw materials to support the already completed Shenhua Shaanxi Methanol Downstream Processing Project (SSMTO). The construction scope includes an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons of methanol along with 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year. The facility comprises various process units such as air separation, gasification, shift reaction, acidic gas removal, methanol synthesis, sulfur recovery, and ethylene glycol production, along with the associated utility systems and auxiliary facilities. Once completed, it will enable integrated production and management together with the SSMTO project.
