On the morning of June 1, the groundbreaking ceremony for Jinmao Group’s 300,000 tons per year ** project was held at the construction site in the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone. It is reported that the 300,000 tons per year **project of Jinmao Group represents the first and most crucial step in establishing a \"modern coal chemical circular economy industrial park\" as part of Jinmao Group’s development strategy aimed at \"stabilizing the coking industry while promoting chemical production, integrating upstream and downstream processes, and using the chemical industry to drive the coking industry\". The project has been listed as a key project to be promoted at the provincial level in Shanxi Province. The Jinmao 300,000 tons per year ** project requires an investment of 2.53 billion yuan. It represents the first step in the overall plan for building a modern fine chemical circular economy industrial park covering the entire benzene-based industry chain of Jinmao. This project takes advantage of the existing capabilities in the refining of crude benzene from coking processes, and employs the most advanced hydration + polymerization processes for production. By extending the benzene industry chain, the coking industry can be transformed into a high-end industry. This project is one of the three modern coal and coke chemical projects worth 10 billion yuan in the Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone of Shanxi Province. The Jinyan 400,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production with co-production of LNG project involves an investment of 5.02 billion yuan. It is an important part of Jinyan Group’s 5 million tons per year modern coal chemical circular economy park. Once completed and put into operation, it will enable the extension of the chemical processing chain for coke oven gas and coke powder, facilitating the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas from large-scale modern coking plants. It represents the largest-scale, most technologically advanced project in China for the production of ethylene glycol through the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas, with the highest ecological and environmental benefits. The investment in the comprehensive utilization project of low-grade coal in Yuaner Prefecture amounts to 3.5 billion yuan. Once the first phase of this project is completed, it will be able to process 3 million tons of raw material bituminous coal per year, producing various products such as upgraded coal, tar, crude phenol, and liquid ammonia; the upgraded coal will meet the standards for anthracite set by national regulations. The low-rank coal pyrolysis unit used in this project employs the core technology of an external-heating rotary bed, which was independently developed and integrated by the institute. By carrying out low-temperature dry distillation of low-rank coal, high-quality coal with improved properties, low-temperature coal tar with a high hydrogen-to-carbon ratio, and low-temperature dry distillation gas with high calorific value are produced. Further processing of this low-temperature coal tar and gas then enables the production of clean fuels such as gasoline, diesel, CNG (LNG).
