On the morning of June 12, the meeting for the detailed design of this project was held at Shengbang Technology Co., Ltd. Zhang Guangrui, Deputy General Manager of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., Zhang Yantian, Assistant to the General Manager, relevant staff from the 1.2 million tons per year coal powder pyrolysis project department, the technical management department, and the quality management department, Wang Qingyuan, Deputy General Manager of Shengbang Technology Company, and other relevant professionals attended the meeting. At the meeting, Shengbang Technology Company provided a detailed presentation on the overview of the project, the preliminary work carried out, the schedule for the detailed design phase, and the overall project timeline. The meeting confirmed that all the conditions necessary for starting the detailed design phase of the pyrolysis project are in place; thus, the detailed design work for the pyrolysis component of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products has officially begun! The Shaanxi Coal Group’s demonstration project for the value-added utilization of coal to produce new chemical materials is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park in Yulin City. The project covers an area of approximately 13 square kilometers, with a total planned investment of around 102.2 billion yuan. It is capable of processing 20.14 million tons of raw coal per year. The project includes 27 processing units along with associated utility systems; these include facilities for the medium- and low-temperature pyrolysis of 15 million tons of coal, production of 5.6 million tons of methanol, 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol, and 2 million tons of MTO. Downstream fine chemical processing units also exist, using these intermediates as raw materials. The final products are high-quality chemical materials such as superabsorbent resins, polyesters, polycarbonates, styrene-butadiene rubber, as well as advanced polyolefins, high-performance engineering plastics, special rubbers, and high-performance fibers. In the **13th Five-Year Plan for Energy Development** released in December 2016, this project was listed as a key construction project for the deep processing of coal ; In the \"13th Five-Year Plan for Demonstrative Projects in the Advanced Processing of Coal\" released in February 2017, this project was once again listed as a new demonstration project for the differentiated utilization of low-grade coal. The project construction is divided into two phases and four stages. Phase 1 focuses on coal gasification, and it is divided into two stages: In the first stage, a project for producing 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol per year will be built, with completion and operation scheduled for June 2021 ; The two-phase construction of an olefin plant with a capacity of 2 million tons per year and related processing facilities is planned to be ready for operation by 2019, with completion and commissioning by the end of 2023. The second phase focuses on coal pyrolysis and is also divided into two stages: the first stage is the pyrolysis startup project, which will be constructed simultaneously with the ethylene glycol project, with completion and operation planned for June 2021 ; In the second phase, the scale of pyrolysis will be increased to 15 million tons, and the coal tar industry chain will be expanded to produce downstream products containing aromatic compounds. Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of 2021, with operations set to start by the end of 2025.
