China’s first commercial liquid hydrogen demonstration plant established in Jiaxing Author/Source: Sinochem News Network Date: 2019-07-10 Clicks: 2 According to Jiaxing ** Network, on July 8, Zhejiang Energy Group Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Jiahua Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement regarding the liquid hydrogen plant project in Jiaxing Port Area. The two parties will work together to develop hydrogen energy in a comprehensive manner, with the goal of building China’s first commercial liquid hydrogen plant. It is understood that Zhejiang Energy Group, as a comprehensive energy enterprise and a large state-owned enterprise under Zhejiang Province, possesses strong technical capabilities in building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system. Jiahua Energy, being a listed company developed locally in Jiaxing Port Area, has the advantage of having surplus hydrogen produced as a by-product of industrial processes, enabling it to supply hydrogen resources that are low-cost, high-quality, and stable in supply. In this partnership, both parties will leverage their respective strengths. Zhejiang Energy Group will provide the design for production processes and related technological solutions, as well as liquefaction equipment, and will utilize its advantages as a provincial energy enterprise with a complete industrial chain to establish a hydrogen supply network across the entire province through the construction of comprehensive energy supply stations. Jiahua Energy will supply the gas source, site space, necessary qualifications, related auxiliary facilities, and personnel for the project, and will take advantage of its surplus of hydrogen produced as a by-product of industrial processes to ensure a stable supply of hydrogen for Zhejiang Energy Group. It is reported that the capacity of the first demonstration facility is 1.5 tons of liquid hydrogen per day, and the liquid hydrogen produced will be used in hydrogen refueling stations, as well as in industries such as aerospace, electronics, and metallurgy. Once the demonstration facility is operating successfully, the two parties will go on to cooperate in building larger-scale liquid hydrogen production facilities, in order to explore more advanced cooperation models for hydrogen energy development.
