From April 20 to 26, Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd. carried out design reviews for the shift unit, low-pressure methanol unit, synthesis unit, and tank farm facilities of its 500,000 tons/year coal-to-olefins project; 3D model review meetings were held at China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. for the shift unit (90%), low-pressure methanol unit (60%), synthesis unit (60%), and tank farm (60%). Representatives from Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd. and the project department of Tianchen Company attended this review meeting. At the meeting, the Baofeng Energy project team offered suggestions regarding the current design work, while the designers from Tianchen Company provided a detailed explanation of the project design. Through in-depth discussions, the participants from both sides reached consensus on optimizing various design details. In addition, the Baofeng Energy project team, drawing on the practical production experience of Baofeng’s existing plant and taking cost and efficiency factors into full consideration, put forward optimization suggestions regarding various aspects such as the detailed design P&D, equipment drawings, pipeline layout of the installation, construction feasibility, operational simplicity in production, and ease of maintenance. Both teams agree that the current design work complies with the requirements of specifications such as the \"Regulations on the Design Content for Foundations of Petrochemical Plants,\" and fully meets the deadlines for the review of the 3D models. The 3D model of this project has successfully passed the progress review, marking an important milestone in the project’s development and signaling that the design work has entered a new phase. The successful completion of the model review laid a solid foundation for the project to fully shift to construction and installation. The Baofeng Energy 500,000 tons per year olefins project has a total investment of 13.8 billion yuan. It is located in Area A of the Linhe Comprehensive Industrial Park within the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base in Yinchuan, Ningxia. The project involves the construction of a 1.5 million tons per year coal gasification methanol production facility, a 500,000 tons per year methanol to olefins conversion facility, a 250,000 tons per year ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer production facility, a 300,000 tons per year polypropylene production facility, as well as supporting utility systems and auxiliary facilities. Among them, the gasification unit uses 6 2,000-ton-class space furnaces. Upon completion of this project, Baofeng Energy’s annual production capacity for coal-based olefins (for phases 1, 2, and 3) will increase to 2.2 million tons, while the annual production capacity for methanol will rise to 6.4 million tons.
